No. 16 SAC to Host No. 17 San Diego Mesa in First Round of SoCal Regionals
No. 16 Santa Ana will get a rematch against No. 17 San Diego Mesa in the first round of the 3C2A SoCal Regionals on Wednesday night.
SANTA ANA, Calif - The Santa Ana College women's basketball team has earned the No. 16 seed in the California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) Women's Basketball Southern California Regionals and will host No. 17 San Diego Mesa (15-13, 7-5) on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
The Dons (15-13, 3-9) were rewarded for playing a tough schedule as they finished the season with the 14th best RPI in the South thanks to wins against No. 4 Orange Coast, No. 11 Long Beach and No. 13 LA Trade Tech.
Santa Ana will now face a familiar foe in a San Diego Mesa team who they've scheduled each year since the 2021-22 season. This year, the Olympians won that mid-season matchup by a score of 70-62.
SAC will not only need big performances from their trio of All-OEC players in Anaya Beard, Mia Rivera and Kiki Graham but also need to find a way to slow down the SDMC leading scorer Stevie Lundquist, who is 21.7 points per game.
