Dons Defeat Golden West 6-1 in Season Finale
SANTA ANA, Calif. - The Santa Ana College softball team finished the season strong as they defeated the Golden West Rustlers by a score of 6-1 in their final game.
Despite dropping the first two games of the series, the Dons looked unfazed and confident as they pulled away in the later innings against the Rustlers.
Standout freshman pitcher Ihilani Berard capped the year off with another strong outing. She allowed just one unearned run and four hits in seven innings of work.
Offensively, fellow freshmen Nayelli De Jesus and Nevaeh Gomez carried the load with two hits each and three RBI between them.
Sophomores Kalani Gonzales and Heneli Urena added a hit and an RBI a piece, giving Santa Ana what they needed for the win.
The Dons also said goodbye to the four sophomores - Kalani Gonzales, Heneli Urena, Gracie Barrios and Valerie Villa in addition to freshmen Victorya Flores who played in their last game at SAC.
SAC will reload for next year with a promising core set to return.
