Dons Split Doubleheader with Grossmont
Santa Ana softball picked up their second win of the year as they split a pair with Grossmont College.
SANTA ANA, Calif - Santa Ana College softball went 1-1 in Friday's doubleheader against Grossmont (3-5).
The Dons (2-5) dominated in game one with an 8-0 mercy rule victory in five innings of action. Ihilani Berard went the distance in the circle, collecting her second win of the year while adding three hits and a couple runs batted in at the plate.
Nayelli De Jesus and Delaney Watkins did the bulk of the damage otherwise as two combined for four hits and three RBI.
In game two, the table turned as Grossmont jumped out to an 8-2 lead following a five run fifth inning.
SAC struggled defensively with four errors while also failing to produce the way they did in the opener.
Aliza Mindiola and De Jesus accounted for a hit each and the only runs batted in for the Dons.
Berard took the loss after giving up three in four innings while Bella Gomez conceded eight (3 earned) and Kalani Gonzales finished with a scoreless seventh.
The Dons will be back in action on February 12th at East LA. First pitch is set for 6PM.
