Urena and Berard Lead Dons to 4-2 Win Against RCC
Santa Ana Softball earned their second Orange Empire Conference win after defeating Riverside City 4-2 on Tuesday.
SANTA ANA, Calif - Heneli Urena drove home three runs while Ihilani Berard threw her eighth complete game of the season to lift the Santa Ana College Softball team to a 4-2 win over the Riverside City College Tigers (6-17, 1-6) in a Orange Empire Conference game on Tuesday afternoon.
The Dons (4-15, 2-5) found themselves down 2-0 after RCC struck first in the third inning.
But Santa Ana quickly responded with an RBI single by Nevaeh Gomez followed by a run scoring fielder's choice from Urena.
In the fifth, Urena came up big again as she poked a hit in front of a diving RCC rightfielder, resulting in two RBI and a double.
Berard held the Tiger bats in check the rest of the way to earn her fourth win of the season.The standout freshman also recorded three hits in the leadoff spot for the Dons.
SAC will have a quick turnaround in order to host College of the Canyons (13-10) in a doubleheader on Wednesday.
