SANTA ANA, Calif. - No. 2 Santa Ana baseball started their three game series against No.15 Fullerton with a dominant 15-4 win on Tuesday.
Fullerton (17-9, 4-3) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after collecting four hits in the top of the first inning. But sophomore pitcher Josh Rodriguez got into a rhythm soon after as he shutout the Hornet offensive for the last six innings.
The right hander from La Serna High fanned three in seven innings to improve to 3-0 this season.
Nathaniel Williams carried the SAC (23-2-1, 6-1) offense with another big day at the plate. The sophomore outfielder went 4-for-5 with five RBI to bring his batting average to .352.
In addition, Nikko Paoletto posted three hits and a couple RBI while Treson Arita hit his second homerun in as many games, driving home three in the process.
Santa Ana is now tied for first place in the Orange Empire Conference standings after No. 6 Riverside lost to No. 26 Saddleback, 6-4.
The Dons will go on the road for game two on Thursday afternoon before heading home to finish the series on Saturday at noon.
