Dons Extend Streak to Seven, Defeat COD 93-76
SAC Men's Basketball downed the College of the Desert Roadrunners 93-76 to extend their winning streak to seven games.
SANTA ANA, Calif. - Aaron De Santiago scored 25 points to lead the Santa Ana College Men's Basketball team to its seventh consecutive win as they defeated College of the Desert (1-3), 93-76 on Thursday night.
De Santiago has scored in double figures in every game thus far, including four of which he surpassed 20. The freshman out of Fountain Valley High also grabbed six rebounds to go with a couple steals and assists.
Early on, the Dons (7-0) struggled to guard in transition and were trading buckets with the Roadrunners. A defensive adjustment and a couple threes turned the tide quickly, as Santa Ana went on an 11-0 run to give themselves a 32-21 lead.
SAC entered the halftime break with a 12 point lead and came out of the locker room with energy to add on to that in the second period. The Dons used a balanced scoring attack and outrebounded COD 31-15 to secure the win, staying undefeated.
Joshua Garland went for 19 points and seven rebounds while Cameron Swist added 11 points, four rebounds and a couple assists.
The Santa Ana offense ran through Christian Jimenez as he racked up seven more assists and had a good shooting night with 13 points on 4-of-5 shooting (2-2 3PM-A). To round out the starting five, Illinois Bidima Jemminez recorded 13 rebounds, went a perfect 3-for-3 from the field for seven points and added two blocks.
The Dons also continue to get production out of their bench as Serigne Saliou Mbaye gave them 10 points and eight rebounds in 15 minutes of action.
SAC will have a weekend to prepare for Miramar College, who they are set to host next Tuesday at 5:00 p.m.
