SAC Men's Basketball Goes 2-0 to Start the Season
SAC Men's Basketball went 2-0 in the first weekend of the season.
SANTA ANA, Calif. - The Santa Ana College Men's Basketball team opened the 2025-26 season with a 73-62 road win over Long Beach City (0-1) followed by an 84-79 victory against Glendale (0-2) in their home opener.
Freshman guard Aaron De Santiago led the Dons (2-0) in scoring for game one, posting 27 points on 10-for-19 shooting in his college debut.
Sophomore guard Cameron Swist (13pts) and freshman forward Kelvin Paul (12pts) were the only other players in double figures for SAC as they combined for 25 points and 10 rebounds.
The difference maker for the Dons was their effort on the offensive glass. They totaled 19 for the night, which led to 25 second chance points compared to just nine for the LBCC Vikings.
6'9 redshirt freshman Illinois Bidima Jemminez was the primary cause of that advantage as the center from the UK grabbed 14 rebounds (5 offensive) to go with four blocks and seven points.
Lastly, the SAC offense was controlled by freshman point guard Christian Jimenez, who racked up nine assists, nine rebounds, three steals and four points in the win.
Following their season opening win, Santa Ana went home to host Glendale on Saturday. The Dons led from start to finish, holding on despite several late surges from Glendale for their second consecutive win.
It was a balanced attack for SAC in that one with all five starters scoring in double digits.
Kelvin Paul had a team high 15 points with nine boards and three assists. Bidima Jemminez recorded a double-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds on top of three blocks. Swist, Jimenez and De Santiago totaled 32 to round out the starters.
The Dons also got a spark off the bench as Salvador Lara went perfect from beyond the arch (3-3) and finished with 11 points and five boards (4 offensive).
Santa Ana has shown a lot of depth and poise in their first two games and will get a chance to add to their winning streak on Monday when they host San Diego Mesa at 5:00 p.m.
