Dons Hits Triple Digits in Fourth Consecutive Win
The Dons won their fourth straight as they defeated Chaffey 102-81 in Wednesday's non-conference matchup.
SANTA ANA, Calif. - The Santa Ana College Men's Basketball team hit triple digits as they defeated Chaffey College (1-1) by a score of 102-81 for its fourth consecutive win on Wednesday night.
SAC (4-0) was clicking on all cylinders offensively as they scorched the nets by shooting 49.4 percent (40-81) and 59.3 percent from three (16-27) in the win.
Joshua Garland led all scorers in his first start of the year with 23 points to go with four rebounds and three steals.
Cameron Swist and Aaron De Santiago have scored in double digits in every game thus far and repeated that trend with 16 and 13 respectively. The guards also added seven assists and seven rebounds between the two.
Although the Dons did not have the advantage when it came to bench points (43-38), they did get very important contributions from Salvador Lara and Serigne Saliou Mbaye.
Not only did they combine for 23 points off the bench, they also accounted for six assists and five boards while turning up the pressure defensively with a pair of steals each.
That energy helped the Dons force the Panthers into 21 turnovers and score in transition with 25 fast break points compared to 15 for Chaffey.
Santa Ana will turn the page after the three game home stretch and will now prepare for the Cuyamaca Tournament starting on Friday. They'll face Imperial Valley at 6:00 p.m.
