Garcia Earns All-American Status, Places Third at State
Andre Garcia placed third in the 133 pound bracket to lead the Dons to a 15th place finish at the 3C2A Men's Wrestling State Championships.
ROCKLIN, Calif. - The Santa Ana College Men's Wrestling team sent three qualifiers to the 2025 3C2A State Championships at Sierra College from December 12-13.
Freshman standout Andre Garcia had the best outing of the three as he finished third overall in the 133 pound bracket to become an All-American.
Garcia went 4-1 in the two day span and ended the season with a 25-5 record as an individual. The standout from Savanna High will be back next season in search of a state title.
The Dons also saw sophomore heavyweight Dylan Avila place 5th to make the podium. Avila returned to the team after qualifying for state in 2023 and going 1-2 in the tournament.
He improved on that this time around, going 3-2 with a couple unfortunate one point losses.
SAC also sent freshman Christian Godinez to compete in the 197 pound bracket after he qualified with an 8th place finish in the SoCal Regional Championships.
Although Godinez had his tournament end after just two bouts, it was impressive that he made the appearance after battling injuries throughout the season.
The Dons are set to bring back a handful of returners next season and hope to improve on their 15th place team finish.
