Dons Finish the Season with 40-20 Win Over SBCC
SAC Football got themselves into the win column with a 40-20 win over Santa Barbara City College on Saturday night.
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Santa Ana College Football finished the year on a positive note as they defeated the Santa Barbara City Vaqueros by a score of 40-20 in their season finale on Saturday night.
The Dons had their best offensive game of the season, recording 482 yards of total offense.
Justin Gil threw for 200 yards and three touchdowns.
His favorite target, freshman wide out Deacon Moss, accounted for two of the touchdowns to go with seven catches and 118 yards while sophomore tight end Nathan Meek finished with three receptions and 46 yards.
One of the reasons the Dons found success in the air was the performance of their offensive line and their three headed running back approach.
The trio of Brandon Giron (186 yds/ 1 td), Anthony Abad (89 yds) and Arthur Shaw (43 yds/ 2 tds) posted big numbers and controlled the game for SAC.
Defensively, the Don pass rush made all of the difference as they collected five sacks in the win.
Porter Nix led the way in that category, posting a season high 2.5 sacks and seven tackles while Abraham Tolliver added two sacks and three total tackles.
SAC also forced one turnover with Josh Patton coming up with his second interception of the year.
The Dons will now head into the off-season with much more time to recruit than they had last season.
