SANTA ANA, Calif. - The Santa Ana Women's Volleyball team went toe to toe with the No. 11 ranked Cypress Chargers (9-3, 1-1) in a critical Orange Empire Conference match on Wednesday night.
After winning the first two sets, the Dons (8-1, 1-1) looked like they would walk away with a convincing sweep. But the Chargers made quick adjustments to slow down the Don attack, leading to two consecutive set wins to force a fifth set.
With the game on the line, Santa Ana played some of their best volleyball to take the final set 15-10 and complete an upset of the Chargers by a score of 3-2 (25-13, 25-22, 13-25, 17-25, 15-10).
The Dons will be back at home on Wednesday night to host No. 25 Saddleback (8-1, 1-1) in another OEC matchup. Game time is at 6:00 p.m.
