SANTA ANA, Calif. - Santa Ana College has announced the hiring of Terrence Williams II as its new head cross country coach. Also known as Coach T, a SAC alumnus and NCAA DI National Champion at UCLA, will also serve as a 2025-26 track and field assistant coach while focusing his efforts on building the cross country program for the 2026-27.
"I'm excited to welcome new SAC Cross Country Head Coach Terrence Williams II back to Santa Ana College," said Athletics Director Mary Hegarty. "Terrence is a Don and I couldn't be happier to have him returning to SAC to lead our cross country program. He's a coach, instructor, sports performance expert, and entrepreneur. With his varied and successful experience, Terrence brings a culture of excellence and professionalism that will enhance the student athlete experience and he will be an outstanding role model for our students."
During his time at Santa Ana College as a student-athlete, he was named the Track & Field Athlete of the Year and placed third in the 400m at the 1998 3C2A State Championships. He also played football as a wide receiver/kick returner under Geoff Jones and helped lead the Dons to a Bowl game that season.
The standout then transferred to UCLA where he would go on to be an All-American and a National Champion in the 4x400m and Distance Medley relays. He continued his running career by competing in the 2004 Olympic trials and signing a pro contract with Adidas, where he ran the 400m and 800m with the athletic brand.
Following his running career, Coach Terrence stayed close to the sport as he has held several positions at different levels such as an Adjunct Professor in Kinesiology, Athletic Director, Head Coach for Cross Country and Track & Field and a Brand Activation Specialist for Adidas.
In addition, he founded Everything Sports, a sports performance company through which he has helped athletes of all levels develop their skills, elevate their performance, and maximize their potential.
"Santa Ana College gave me my start as an athlete and shaped the competitor I am today," said Coach Terrence. "Returning here is a full-circle moment, and my mission is to equip today's athletes with the tools, guidance, and mindset to succeed at the highest level. My vision is to build a premier program where every athlete is trained, challenged, and prepared to perform like a champion."
Coach Terrence holds a Master of Science in Kinesiology and Sport Management from California Baptist University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles.
