Men's and Women's Teams Qualify for State Championships
Led by Toni Lopez and Geovany Garcia, both the men's and women's cross country teams qualified for the 2015 CCCAA State Championships.
For the first time since 2008, both the men's and women's cross country teams have qualified for the California Community College Athletic Association Cross Country State Championships. The Dons qualified for the 2015 CCCAA State Championships after the men finished in eighth place and the women in 15th place at the 2015 SoCal Finals held at Mission Bay Park in San Diego.
Geovany Garcia led the men's team with a 21st place finish followed by Paulino Sanchez in 30th. Next across the finish line for the Dons were Ramiro Santos and Edwin Ortiz-Lopez in 53rd and 54th place, respectively, before Brian Ambrocio capped the Dons scorers in 63rd place.
In the women's race, Toni Lopez finished fifth overall with just four seconds separating her from the second place finisher. The rest of the women's team finished as follows; Ana Diaz placed 80th, Lizeth Luciano placed 107th, Angie Gomez placed 119th, Lizbeth Luciano placed 131st, Jazlin Madrid placed 144th and Maria Baeza placed 155th.
Mt. San Antonio College was the overall winner in the men's race while Glendale College won the women's race.
