WALNUT, Calif. - The Santa Ana College Baseball team had an early exit at the 2024 3C2A State Championships after falling to West Valley College by a score of 8-6 in the tournament opener followed by a heartbreaking 13 inning, 11-10 loss to San Joaquin Delta College on day two.
SAC (35-15-1) competed throughout the weekend but just could not take advantage of great opportunities as they left 36 runners on base in two games.
Despite it being a tough result, the Dons did have a couple bright spots as freshman outfielder Jake Long went 9-for-11 in his state championship debut. Meanwhile, sophomore infielder Michael Rocha kept the Dons in the game with five hits, seven runs batted in and a pair of walks against Delta.
Santa Ana will see much of their roster transfer to NCAA Division I schools but are set to return a handful of freshmen including Jake Long, Christian Altamirano, Brady Schrank and Kian Sanchez.
