Bio
Demetrius Wilson has been named head coach of the Santa Ana College Track & Field Program. Coach Wilson brings a wealth of track and field experience as the head coach of the Black Lightning Track Club and assisting with the Rosary High School program that won a CIF Championship in 2025.
His success includes, but is not limited to, coaching over 77 National Champions and 119 National All-Americans. His primary focus has and will continue to be the growth & development of student-athletes. Some of his proudest moments revolve around individuals that started with a limited amount of experience and transitioned into All-Americans and legitimate threats at the next level.
“We are thrilled to welcome new SAC Track & Field Head Coach Demetrius Wilson to the SAC Athletics family,” stated Athletics Director Mary Hegarty. “Coach Wilson is a high level professional and dedicated faculty member who brings great experience and a track record of building robust, successful programs. The Dons are positioned to thrive under Coach Wilson’s leadership, both in the classroom and on the field of competition. The future is bright for SAC Track & Field!”
Coach Wilson earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing from Xavier University where he played NCAA Division I basketball and then furthered his education by earning an MBA from the University of Phoenix. He has been teaching at the college level for 20 years and understands how instrumental a solid community college foundation is applicable to our local students' success.
He will now take over a program that has seen incremental growth but has not thrived as a team over the past two seasons. “If we already knew where our path ended, faith, confidence and focus would not be a requirement, but that’s not reality,” said new Head Coach Demetrius Wilson about the mindset of his new program. “We expect to win, we expect to improve and we expect the best.”
Coach Wilson has four children, Janelle, Justine, Jasmine & Jazelle, and is married to Janine M. Wilson.
