Andrew McDonald led the Santa Ana College offense at quarterback for two seasons.
As a freshman, McDonald finished the season 167-for-242 passing for 2,196 yards and 28 touchdowns. He set the Santa Ana College single season record with 28 touchdown passes and the single season record for completion percentage at 69.0, while tying the single-game record with five touchdown passes against College of the Desert. The Dons went 9-1 that season and brought home the Beach Bowl with a 52-43 win over Grossmont College.
In 2011, he threw for 2,033 yards and 22 touchdowns, while rushing for 123 yards and four touchdowns. McDonald completed 169-of-273 pass attempts.
He was named a first team All-East Conference selection in both seasons as well as first team all-state as a freshman and a first team all-region member as a sophomore. McDonald earned a scholarship to New Mexico State University where he saw significant playing time as a senior. He finished the last collegiate season with 2,763 yards passing and 255 yards rushing, 20 total touchdowns and a 136.07 rating.
