SANTA ANA, Calif. – Karissa Mumford and Erisa Pooee pulled off some huge upsets to advance through the Orange Empire Conference Beach Volleyball Championship Bracket and placed 6th out of 32 teams to qualify for the 2019 CCCAA SoCal Beach Volleyball Pairs Regionals.
The duo took on Jilian Hewitt and Ireland Ridill from Saddleback College on Wednesday in the first round and advanced with a 21-18, 21-13 win. They then battled their way to the quarterfinals, defeating the top pair from Golden West in three sets by a score of 21-17, 12-21, 16-14.
Following a loss in the semifinals the Dons took home a sixth place finish, marking the third consecutive season the program has sent a pair to the CCCAA SoCal Pair Regionals.
Santa Ana will send Mumford and Pooee to the 2019 CCCAA SoCal Pairs Regionals that will take place at Irvine Valley College on Friday, May 3rd.
